In line with Istanbul Airport’s “Child-Friendly Airport” vision, we developed unique digital experiences for astronomy and nature-themed play areas in both domestic and international terminals. To transform the waiting time for young visitors into enjoyable moments, we designed and manufactured highly durable, interactive systems suitable for the terminal’s busy dynamics.
As Usturlab, we managed all processes from concept design to software development and on-site hardware installation with a holistic approach. We implemented six different applications: physical games based on Kinect such as “Mission To The Moon” and “Buzz Park,” as well as interactive applications and drawing-focused activities like “How Much Do You Weigh on Planets?”, “You Are the Universe,” “Planet Boom,” and “Flower Blast,” offering children diverse game mechanics.
These interactive play areas quickly became some of the most popular spots in the terminal. Used daily by thousands of children and families, these applications have transformed airport visits from a standard waiting experience into an integral part of the travel experience.
