“Some ideas transcend time.”

We brought the Pioneers of Modern Science exhibition to life with this thought in mind. Two years of research and curation work unearthed a forgotten legacy that changed the course of the history of science. Based on the history of science from the beginning of humanity to the present day, we focused on the key role of Islamic civilizations in science.

We transformed the inventions, individuals, and periods of this great genius, particularly in fields such as algebra, mechanics, medicine, and astronomy, which formed the foundations of modern science, into a physical experience. To tell these periods to visitors, we designed mechanical, digital, and artistic installations, each with its own story, based on historical texts.

The exhibition first opened its doors at Istanbul Airport in 2019, the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Year. As Usturlab, we managed not only the curation and design of this major project but also all the production and installation processes. This journey did not end in Istanbul; we adapted and installed the same exhibition concept for the Hikayati Center in Najaf, Iraq.
