TOKAT SCIENCE CENTER

In Tokat, on the banks of the Yeşilırmak River, we designed a pioneering science center project based on the philosophy of “from local to universal.” We conceived complex subjects such as Anatolian natural history, astronomy, quantum technologies, and artificial intelligence as a whole of digital exhibitions and experiential areas.

As Usturlab, we undertook the curatorial work, project management, concept design, and architectural design of this center, which spans 3,300 m² of indoor space. We built the visitor experience on two main layers: The ground floor is dedicated to mechanical and digital exhibits ranging from Anatolian Natural History to 21st-century technologies. The first floor is designed entirely as digital interaction areas. In total, we created 7 thematic exhibition areas and 4 art/science workshops.

The project was not limited to indoor spaces. We also equipped the center’s 8-acre recreation areas with interactive scientific exhibits and play areas that appeal to all five senses. Tokat Science Center was designed as an integrated science and experience destination with indoor and outdoor spaces, featuring unique applications unlike any other in Turkey.
