DIYARBAKIR KAYAPINAR SCIENCE FESTIVAL
In 2018, we organised a 5-day science festival targeting primary and secondary school children within the Kayapınar Municipality in Diyarbakır.
During the festival we held 180 workshops for 750 children from the city. The workshops included 30 forest explorers, 30 biomimicry, 30 microbiology, 30 philosophy, 30 astronomy, and 30 Experimental math workshops. During the workshops, children learned mathematics beyond algebra, realised that it encompasses all areas of daily life, and discovered Diyarbakır’s unique ecosystem with forest explorer tours. They recognised dozens of inventions inspired by nature during the biomimicry and microbiology workshops. They took a more guided and closer look at nature and living creatures.
